Lawrence D. Dusek, 75, Martin, ND, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, at St. Aloisius Hospital, Harvey, ND. Mr. Dusek was born Aug. 20, 1927, in Harvey, the son of Henry and Rosa (Mikula) Dusek. He grew up and attended Antelope Lake District School northeast of Anamoose, ND. He entered the air force in January 1946 and achieved the rank of staff sergeant before being honorably discharged in January 1949. He returned to the Anamoose area and farmed with his father. He married Audrey Grochow on Oct. 17, 1949, in Anamoose. They lived north of Martin. He was a machine operator for the railroad and was employed by Great Northern, Northern Pacific, and Burlington Northern Railroads. He also farmed for many years. He retired in December 1988. She died Jan. 21, 2001. He was a member of St. Martin’s Lutheran Church and Brotherhood of Maintenance Way Employees. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and trapping.
He is survived by seven daughters, Susan Corwin, Jamestown; Deborah Schoepp, Lakota, ND; Janice Degenstein and Grace Minarik, both Forman, ND; Joan Chiapputi, Spring Valley, Calif.; Annette Dusek, Reno, Nev.; Judy Lill, Langdon, ND; four sons, Russell, Stanley, ND; David, New Rockford, ND; Lowell, Anamoose; James, Mesa, Ariz.; a sister, Alice Petermann, Fargo, ND; 21 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers, Frank and Robert; and a sister, Dorothy. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, Anamoose.
Visitation: 2 to 7 p.m. today, Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey. Burial: church cemetery.

Miss Audrey Ann Grochow and Lawrence D. Dusek were united in marriage by Rev. E. Zimbrick in St. Martin’s Lutheran church at Anamoose at 10 a.m. on Oct. 17. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Grochow of rural Martin and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dusek of rural Anamoose. Jackie Fritz was organist and Mrs. Wesley Schroeder of Drake sang "The Lord’s Prayer" at the ceremony. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white slipper satin with a sheer yoke and full skirt extending into a train. Her fingertip veil was edged in nylon lace and fastened to a tiara of seed pearls. Her only jewelry was a three strand pearl necklace, a gift of the groom. Her bouquet was of mixed carnations. Miss Angela Grochow was her sister’s maid of honor. Her gown of aqua marquisette was fashioned with a fitted bodice and hoop skirt. She carried a colonial bouquet of pink chrysanthemums. She wore a double strand of pearls with matching earrings, the gift of the bride. Mrs. Alfred Running of Harvey, an aunt of the bride, was bridesmaid. She wore a fuchsia taffeta gown with fitted bodice and full skirt. Her colonial bouquet was fashioned of yellow chrysanthemums. Her jewelry was a matching set of double strand pearls and earrings, the gift of the bride. Jean Weidmeier of Harvey, cousin of the bride, was flower girl, She wore a yellow dottedswiss gown and carried purple sweet peas. The groom was attended by his brother, Robert Dusek, and Alfred Running, uncle of the bride. The groom wore a light blue suit with a carnation boutonnaire, His attendants wore brown suits with carnation boutonnaires. Thornton Stark, Harvey, and Walter Doubek, cousins of the bride, were ushers. Mrs. Grochow, the bride’s mother, wore a green crepe dress with black accessories, and Mrs. Dusek, mother of the groom, wore navy blue with white accessories. Both wore corsages of red roses. Approximately 75 friends and relatives attended the ceremony and the reception which was held at 12:30 in the basement of the church. Mrs. Art Delzer, Harvey, aunt of the bride, cut the three-tiered wedding cake which was decorated in pink and white and topped with a miniature church representing the bridal couple proceeding from the church. Mrs. Emil Weidmeir of Harvey, another aunt of the bride, was in charge of the gift table, and LoisWeidmeir, cousin of the bride, had charge of the guest book. The bride has been employed at Albrecht’s store in Anamoose for the past two years and the groom is an employee of the Great Northern railroad. When the couple left on their wedding trip, the bride was attired in a royal blue dress with red accessories and a corsage of white and red carnations. Out-of-town guests at the wedding included Mrs. Wm. Krout and sons LeRoy and Robert ofDenbigh; LaDonna Liebe of Minot; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Liebe and family, Mr. and Mrs. Art Delzer, Mrs. Emil Weidmeir and family, Mr. and Ms. Fred Schindler and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Allen, all of Harvey; and Mrs. A. H. Petermann and Mark of Fargo.
