Roy C. Thornton
TONASKET--Roy C. Thornton, 77, of Tonasket, a long-time resident and orchardist of North Central Washington, died at his home Saturday.
Mr. Thornton was born at Bridgewater, S.D., and as a boy came to Washington first settling at Burlington.
In 1908 he moved to Monitor where he married Theo Patterson Aug. 12, 1914.
Since 1924 he made his home at Tonasket.
He developed his own orchard and later a warehouse and cold storage facilities, becoming an independent shipper of apples.
He was a member of the Undenominational Followers of Christ.
One son and one daughter preceded him in death.
Surviving are: his widow; for daughters, Carol, Edith, and Ardis Thornton, all of Tonasket, and Mrs. Lu Weaver, Okanogan; three sons, Dr. Dell Thornton, Republic, Neal Thornton, Wenatchee, and Floyd Thornton, Tonasket; his sister Cora Haven, in Maryland; two brothers Carl and Guy Thornton, in California; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Barnes Funeral Service, Oroville, is in charge of arrangements.

Roy C. Thornton--Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Barnes Funeral Chapel, Oroville, with Reuben Bennet officiating. Interment will be in the Tonasket Cemetery. Arrangements by Barnes Funeral Service, Oroville.15
