Tonasket
Ardis Thornton, 77, a longtime resident of Tonasket passed away Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at North Valley Hospital in Tonasket.
Ardis was born May 13, 1924 in Wenatchee, the daughter of Roy and Theo (Patterson) Thornton. The family moved to Tonasket in January, 1925. She attended school in Tonasket and graduated from Tonasket High. She grew up with the apple industry and enjoyed her work with the United States Forest Service, where she worked until retirement. She enjoyed her fellowship with the World Wide Body of Nondenominational Christians.
She is survived by two brothers, Neal Thornton, Wenatchee and Floyd Thornton, Oroville; three sisters, Edith Thornton and Carol Thornton at the home, and Lu Weaver, Brewster.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Dr. Dell Thornton, Republic, and Charlie Thornton; and one sister, Vera Catherine Thornton. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, 11 a.m. at the Tonasket High School Commons, with Bob Anderson and Jenith Hamon. Committal Services and interment follow at the Tonasket Cemetery. Visitation will be at Barnes Elmway Chapel, Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Memorials may be made to North Valley Hospital Memorial Fund Tonasket or the charity of your choice.
