His name appears in differnt leases up to 1596. In a Royal Charter, dated April 29, 1574, the King confirmed to James Finley, portioner, a Moiety of land in the Parish Of Newburn, Balchristie, Fife. In a Scotch Deed, dated Jan. 27,1574, James Finley, portioner, Balchristie, Fife, was on a grantor's bond dated August 6, 1592. He was Dean of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church at Balchristie, County Fife, where the baptisms of his children are found. There is a record of his marriage (Baron's Court Book, Vol. II, p. 86.), prior to 1576, to Elizabeth Warrender, daughter of William Warrender and his wife Christina, of Balchristie, Fife, Scotland.
