DIED.
ZONES--At the sanitarium at Brainerd, Sunday, May 31, 1891, D. W. Zones, aged 36 years.
--The deceased was a laborer on the coal dock at this place, and last Saturday night he was climbing a ladder to the dock, just back of an engine that stood on the track. The engine started to back and knocked him from the ladder. He was badly bruised inwardly and was taken to the sanitarium on the first train, but died the next day.
Mr. Zones was a native of Pennsylvania. He came to Minnesota in 1876 and two years later he settled in this township (near Dower Lake) where he has since resided. He leaves a wife and six children to mourn his loss. The oldest child is a girl twelve years of age, the youngest a baby boy.
The remains were brought to this place for burial. The funeral service was held at the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon and was largely attended. Rev. J. H. Cudlipp officiated.
Card of Thanks.
I desire in this manner to thank the citizens of Staples and vicinity for their aid and sympathy extended to me and my little ones in our hour of great tribulation. -Mrs. D. W. Zones.
