Elizabeth "Liz" Bittis, 99, Bismarck, died Sept. 30, 2001, in a Bismarck nursing home. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center Chapel, Bismarck, with the Revs. Michael Horn and Kendall Johnson officiating.
Elizabeth was born Sept. 27, 1902, in Martin, the daughter of Christian and Elizabeth (Schock) Delzer. She married George Bittis on July 27, 1928, in Moorhead, Minn. George died March 2, 1963.
Elizabeth was active in a number of community organizations, providing many hours of volunteer work. She was an activities assistant for 11 years at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center and was a caregiver to the children of many families in Bismarck. She was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Elizabeth entered the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center on Dec. 30, 1993.
She is survived by three daughters and one son-in-law, Irene and Richard Iverson and Helen Fuller, all of Bismarck, and Arlene Faul, Bakersfield, Calif.; two sons and one daughter-in-law, James and Nancy, Merced, Calif., and George, Coon Rapids, Minn.; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one grandson; five sisters; and nine brothers.
