Notes for George L Grochow
Funeral Services were held Monday at 2 in St. Martin Lutheran Church, Anamoose, for George L. Grochow, 65, Anamoose, who died Friday in a Harvey hospital.
Rev. E. M. Beck officiated and burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Grochow was born Dec. 18, 1905, in Buffalo Lake, Minn. He moved to the Anamoose community in 1906. On July 11, 1927, he married Rebecca Ulrich in Cathay. They farmed until 1953. He was then employed by the Hublow Implement Co., Anamoose. With Mat Rudnick, he purchased the company and renamed it the Anamoose Repair Shop. He operated the business until retirement in December 1969.
He was clerk of the White Township (Pierce County) School District for 20 years, member of the Anamoose Fire Department Civic Club and St. Martin Lutheran Church.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Walter (Esther) Doubek and Mrs. William (Dorothy) Thomssen, both of Anamoose; three brothers, William of Argyle, Minn., Ben of Martin, and Otto of Anamoose; three sisters, Mrs. Alma Weidmeier of Harvey, Mrs. Art Delzer of Lebanon, Ore., and Mrs. Gust Delzer of Anamoose; and seven grandchildren.
