Grace C. Hoffman, 73, a long time Waterville community leader, died Tuesday evening, April 4, 2006, in a Cashmere Convalescent Center.
Grace was born at Waterville, WA on August 17, 1932, to the late John W. and Mary Anabel (Clark) Zones. She grew up and received her early education at Waterville and later attended the University of Washington. She married Ed Hoffman on June 4, 1967, and they lived in Alaska for many years before returning to Waterville where Ed was Mayor for many years.
He preceded her in death in 1990. She was a member of the Waterville Federated Church, a 54 year member of the Waterville Rebekahs and a member of the Waterville Planning and Zoning Committee. She was a former officer of the Waterville Chamber of Commerce and was an avid bowler.
Survivors include a son, Dale Bortz of Waterville; brothers, John (Eileen) Zones of Waterville and Steve Zones of Snohomish; grandchildren, David Matthew Bortz and Amanda Grace Elizabeth Bortz; and a great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers; and a sister.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 10, 2006, in the Waterville Federated Church. Viewing will be from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday April 9, 2006, at the Waterville Funeral Home. Arrangements are by the Waterville Funeral Home.
