Christmas Presents
Mom and Dad's bedroom was always the place where the Christmas presents were wrapped.  One day Luella was wrapping Christmas gifts in the bedroom and I wanted to go in and help as she let some of the other kids help her.  Well, she said that I was too little and that I couldn't help.  I was not very happy about that.  When they got done I found some scraps of wrapping paper and some ribbon and I went to the wood box and found a piece of wood about 1" wide by 6" long and crudely wrapped it up and put Luella's name on a name tag.  When Christmas Eve came and the gifts were handed out, I began to feel kind of bad for what I had done.  Luella was guessing each of her presents before she opened them.  Ray was also there , I think that they were dating at this time.  Soon she was holding the gift I wrapped for her and was trying to guess what it was.  I really felt bad but it was too late to do anything about it.  Well she opened it up and as you may suspect was quite surprised.  All I said was, "Well you wouldn't let me help you wrap your presents."  -Betty (Delzer) Eggers
Practical Joker
I was always a practical joker.  But this one day I didn't really want to fool anybody but I was just bored.  I was sitting in the kitchen and mom was scrubbing the living room floor on her hands and knees.  Just for kicks, I knocked on the wall and said "Come on in Nora.  Mom is in the living room scrubbing".  You can imagine my surprise when Mom gets up from her knees and brushes her hair back and says, "I was so busy, I didn't even hear you come".  When she reached the kitchen, I was on my feet and out the door with her yelling after me.  -Betty (Delzer) Eggers
