Notes for Alice Rose Dusek
She made her First Communion in a town nearby where she stayed at a boarding school at which Sisters taught. She only went there for maybe a year or so when she was about 7-8. Her parents sent her there for religious education and preparing for her First Communion etc. She went with her Dad in those small working related train units that I think had to be pumped. I don't know how often she came home during that year.

Alice Rose Dusek was born July 10, 1916 at Bremen, ND to Henry and Rosa Dusek. She attended grade school there and later transferred to St. James Academy in New Rockford, ND. She was a graduate of Palmer Method of Business Writing and the Snows College of Dress Making. Alice and Alfred H. Petermann were married August 28, 1939 in Anamoose, ND and they made their home in West Fargo, ND, where they raised four children.

Alice was a 4-H leader and Boy Scouts of America den mother. She worked for Petermann Plumbing and Heating until she retired and moved to independent living at Riverview Place in 2000. She traveled to Europe twice, visiting France, Switzerland, Italy, where she saw the Pope and the Vatican, Guam, Guatemala and most of the United States. She volunteered in cooking for the Fargo/Moorhead homeless shelters for eighteen years and took part in anti-abortion marches for thirty years. She was a charter member of Blessed Sacrament Church in West Fargo and the parish women's circle. She continued as an active member and officer for many years.

Alice is survived by four children, Gene (Georgianna) Petermann, West Fargo, Judy Petermann, Fargo, Marie (Clifford) Haugen, Arvilla, ND, Mark (Peggy) Petermann, Horace, ND; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Riverview Place.

Funeral Service: Monday, July 6, 2009 at 10:30 in Riverview Place Chapel.
