Notes for Karl Joseph Mikula
Karl arrived in the United States with his sister Rosa Mikula on March 28, 1912 after a 9 day voyage on the S.S. Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse. He stated that he was going to Alice, Cass County, North Dakota, and listed his nearest relative in his homeland as his wife, Rosa Stolz Mikula, living at Michelsdorf 78 Landskrom, Bohemia. According to the manifest, his height was 5'6" with blonde hair and brown eyes (probably not accurate). It is listed that they were going to meet up with Uncle Edward Stangler in Alice, Cass Co., North Dakota. Nine months later, on December 26, 1912, Karl’s brother, Ferdinand, travelling with Karl’s wife, Rosa Stolz Mikula, and son, Karl, also arrived in the United States aboard the S.S. George Washington. Karl and Ferdinand both worked for Gust and Edward Stangler as farm laborers soon after.
