Agnes Mary Akason, age 91, died on Monday, December 29, at Emerald Crest of Minnetonka, MN with family nearby.
Agnes was born on January 17, 1917 in Alice, ND to Carl and Rosa (Stoltz) Mikula. She was raised and attended school in Casselton, ND. She married Glenn M. Akason on December 4, 1935 in Fargo, ND. They lived in several states until settling in Moorhead, MN in 1967. In 2001 she moved to the Twin Cities to be closer to her daughter.
She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, Moorhead, MN, volunteering in many ways throughout the years. Agnes enjoyed canning, baking, needlework of all kinds, playing bingo and going to garage sales. She loved traveling to see family and friends. She loved hosting family gatherings and attending the events of all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her children: Donna Bultena, Sioux Falls, SD, Glenda (Tim) Hoogland, Golden Valley, MN, Greg (Reene) Akason, West Fargo, ND; two sons-in-law: Bill Schuman, Grand Forks, ND, David Czeczok, Bemidji, MN; 11 grandchildren: Christeen (David) Walz, Richard (Jennifer) Jorde, Sandra (John) Mesa, Nicole Akason, Chelsea Akason, Jennifer Akason, Hallie Hoogland, Hannah Hoogland, Cathy Bultena, Keith Bultena, Scott (Tari) Phares; 7 great grandchildren: Meaghann Harmon, Matthew Mesa, Amanda Mesa, Kiley Phares, Payton Phares, Tanna Phares, Max Phares; one sister: Martha Wells, Fargo, ND; one brother: Francis ?Sonny? Mikula, West Fargo, ND; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; an infant son: Andrew Akason; two daughters: Carol Schuman and Janet Czeczok; siblings: Carl Mikula, Eleanor Hejl, Gustav ?Gusty? Mikula, Emil Mikula, Mary Schneider, Alvina Sell; and her parents.
Agnes will be remembered always for being a very loving person to all.
